Gloucester and Rockport
Gloucester: our home base. We built curved stairs with matching curved stone walls along the sides for a Gloucester homeowner, and the Gloucester masonry page has that job and more.
Rockport: a Rockport patio was expanded by lifting some of the existing pavers and blending them with new ones, and we built granite steps down to a client's dock. Both are on the Rockport page.

Coastal towns from Essex to Swampscott
Essex: a homeowner whose property sloped sharply down to the water needed safe access, so we built stone stairs.
Ipswich: a 100-year-old stone wall had started to lean from poor drainage, and we restored it. The Ipswich masonry page tells that job. We also added clear vinyl panels to a client's pergola, on the Ipswich patio page.
Manchester-by-the-Sea: we stabilized a coastal seawall with helical tiebacks, a job on the hardscaping and masonry page.
Beverly: a timber wall that had started to tip forward was stabilized in place rather than rebuilt, as described on the retaining walls page.
Salem: a couple with a 12 by 14 foot space got a wall-mounted pergola with vertical herb gardens. It is on the patio page.
Marblehead: a family with a sloped backyard got a terraced layout around a custom stone fire pit, shown on the fire pit page. A client who had not used her backyard for years also got a simple paver patio and pathway from us.
Swampscott: a floating outdoor staircase connects a patio to the level above, and the homeowner's own words are on the walkways and stairs page.
Newburyport: fireplaces in the historic district meant working with the building inspectors and the historical commission. The services page has the full story.
Rowley: in October 2026 we replaced a worn concrete step and cracked path at a ranch house with stone front steps and a stone walkway.

Towns away from the shoreline
Hamilton: a cottage-style flagstone entrance for a Hamilton homeowner. It is described on our services page.
Wenham: a multi-level entertainment space with a herringbone paver dining area that steps down to a circular fire pit area, on the patio page.
Topsfield: on a property with big grade changes we set granite slab steps with small terraced gardens between the levels. See steps and brick stairs.
Boxford: garden stone stairs cross back and forth over a stream, as shown on the walkways page.
Danvers: deteriorating concrete steps on a colonial home were replaced with a granite entrance. See steps and brick stairs.
Peabody: a direct-vent gas fireplace went into a 1950s ranch home that never had one.
Lynnfield: a travertine pool deck in a modified basketweave pattern, written up on the pool deck page.
North Reading: a custom stone fire pit chosen to suit the yard's existing decor, on the fire pit page.
Georgetown: Michael, one of our recent clients there, had a stonework fireplace built by one of our masons.

Before You Dig
Rules that change from town to town
Permit rules are set by each town, so ask your building department and conservation commission what a property needs. State wetlands rules generally treat land within 100 feet of a wetland as a buffer zone that needs review, and Gloucester adds its own ordinance.
