Crane boom beside a tall pine with a climber working in the tree

From One of Our Tree Jobs

A tall tree with a crane and a climber

The photo shows one of our tree jobs: a tall tree with a climber up in it and a crane boom standing beside it. We worked with a crane on this one.

The other photos on this page are from our tree work too: a tall dead tree with bare limbs next to a utility line, and a cleanup with a wood chipper and cut log rounds beside a house.

Trees this tall are why we take down big trees carefully and why the first visit matters. What is under and around the tree sets how the work goes, so tell us about it when you send the photos.

Before the Visit

What to tell us about the tree

Photos and a few details make the first conversation quicker.

  1. 01

    Which tree, and where

Where it stands, roughly how tall it is and how close it sits to the house, the driveway, a fence or a neighbor's yard.

  2. 02

    Anything overhead

If branches reach power lines, say so first and do not trim near them yourself. Under federal electrical safety rules, only qualified people may work on energized lines, and untrained workers on the ground must keep tools and equipment 10 feet away from lines up to 50 kV.

  3. 03

    What is under it

A patio, a garden, a shed, a septic system or a drain line below the branches or roots. If the job involves digging, Massachusetts law calls for notice to Dig Safe at 811 first.

  4. 04

    The property line

If the trunk or branches cross onto a neighbor's land, or the other way, know where the line runs and talk with the neighbor before work starts.

Tree to take down, trim or prune?

Send photos and your address. If the tree is blocking a patio, walkway or wall project, we can plan the tree and the build together.

Questions

Tree service questions

What tree services do you offer?

We take down big trees, and we do tree trimming and pruning.

Have you taken down a large tree with a crane?

Yes. The photos on this page show one: a crane beside a tall tree, with a climber in it.

What if branches reach power lines?

Do not trim near the lines yourself. Federal electrical safety rules limit work on energized lines to qualified people, and line-clearance tree trimming has its own standard for qualified crews. Contact your electric utility about branches touching or near its lines.

Can the tree work and my patio or walkway be one job?

Yes. We build patios, walkways, steps and walls, so the order of work, tree first, then clearing, digging and building, can be set at one visit.

What should I send for an estimate?

Your address, photos of the tree from a few sides, roughly how tall it is, and what is near it: the house, a fence, a driveway or wires.
